About Certiwage
Certified payroll software built for the small subcontractor — by a small, independent software company.
Who we are
Certiwage is built and operated by Handler Labs LLC, an independent software company based in Coconut Creek, Florida. We are not a payroll processor, not a compliance agency, and not backed by an enterprise software vendor — we build focused tools and charge a fair monthly price for them.
Why Certiwage exists
Certified payroll is a weekly legal obligation for every contractor and subcontractor on a Davis-Bacon or prevailing-wage job — and the software for it was built for the other side of the table. The established systems are bought by awarding agencies and prime contractors, priced in the hundreds of dollars a month with four-figure setup fees, and designed for compliance staff, not for the electrician with a six-person crew who has a WH-347 due every Friday.
That sub's real options were a spreadsheet and the DOL's blank PDF — the exact path that produces the fringe and overtime errors that get payments withheld. Certiwage is the missing contractor-side tool: enter your crew's hours and rates, get a correct, fringe-checked WH-347 and Statement of Compliance, every week, for $29 a month.
The principles the product runs on
- Deterministic math, no guessing. The payroll engine is pure, unit-tested code — the same inputs always produce the same report, verified against the DOL's own worked examples. No AI writes your legal documents.
- Store the minimum. We keep only the last four digits of any worker's SSN at rest, exactly as the WH-347 requires. Where California's eCPR upload needs full SSNs, we collect them only at the moment of export and never save them.
- Honest marketing. No fabricated testimonials, no fake review counts, no invented comparisons. When a competitor is the right answer (an agency-mandated portal, for instance), our guides say so.
- Priced for the small sub. Free first report, $29/month, no setup fee, cancel when the job ends and come back on the next one.
What Certiwage is not
Certiwage prepares certified payroll documents. It does not run payroll, move money, file taxes, or give legal advice — and it is not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Labor or any state agency. You review and sign everything before it's filed.
